Vertical pile cloth disc filter — RF-VCF
RF-VCF is the vertical pile cloth disc filter series for suspended-solids separation. Its vertically arranged disc stack offers an alternative layout for sites where the available installation area is a key constraint. Height, access and hydraulic integration remain part of the engineering review.

A different layout, the same filtration objective
RF-VCF and RF-HCF both use pile cloth to separate suspended solids. The vertical layout is a configuration choice, not a claim of better effluent quality. Select the series against the available space, hydraulic conditions and maintenance access.
Cloth access and service planning
The filter cloth is a serviceable process component. Include access to the disc stack, inspection openings and the cleaning equipment in the layout. Replacement media must fit the frame and attachment geometry of the selected configuration.
Tertiary treatment and floc capture
RF-VCF can be considered for polishing biologically treated effluent and capturing flocs after a suitable precipitation and flocculation stage. The inlet quality and required outlet limit determine the design. It is not a substitute for biological treatment of dissolved organic pollution.
Models and hydraulic reference values
Source: R+F series specifications. These are maximum hydraulic reference values, not guaranteed operating flow rates. Final sizing must also check solids loading, influent characteristics, required effluent quality, backwash demand, peak flow and availability. Intermediate configurations are available, subject to engineering verification.
| Model | Discs | Filter area (m²) | Maximum hydraulic capacity (m³/h) |
|---|---|---|---|
| RF-VCF-2 | 2 | 10 | 100 |
| RF-VCF-3 | 3 | 15 | 150 |
| RF-VCF-4 | 4 | 20 | 200 |
| RF-VCF-5 | 5 | 25 | 250 |
| RF-VCF-6 | 6 | 30 | 300 |
Media selection for RF-HCF and RF-VCF
Select the cloth and hardware together. Influent solids, particle characteristics and the required effluent quality determine the appropriate media grade. A finer cloth does not by itself guarantee a phosphorus limit or a particular flow rate.

Does vertical refer to the orientation of each disc?
Here, vertical identifies the series layout with discs stacked vertically. It distinguishes the arrangement from the horizontal RF-HCF series. The project drawing defines the final geometry.
Is RF-VCF automatically the right choice for a small site?
No. A vertical layout is worth assessing when floor space is constrained, but available height, maintenance access, hydraulic levels and the required duty must also be suitable.
How is the filter cloth selected?
R+F reviews the suspended-solids load, particle characteristics, treatment goal and cleaning conditions. The cloth and the hardware are selected together; hydraulic capacity alone is not sufficient.
